They Don't move the goal posts. They move the pitch !

Work is odd. I’m clearing off work, which is required by client two and four. Unfortunately our contact with client two is ill, so the quiet-man is going to be heading over there again. He’s not happy about it because where he’s going is going is going to be cold and dark.

I’m finally getting the opportunity to tidy up the big piece of functionality that has been hanging over me for the last few months. Well I was, then they floor me with more stuff for client two and still expect the deadline to be met for the first piece of work.

It’s now official that they have dropped Visual Basic 6 from any development. They’re complaining about the amount of hassle it generates. However, for some of the applications, VBScript is not going to be enough to handle the functionality.

They’re solution? Re-write the components in C++.

Good Job the CV is almost complete. The car is still awaiting parts.

Oh Woe is me.

My list of woes seems to include leaks at the moment. The car was leaking oil and so I took it the garage over the road on Thursday. It’s been awaiting parts since then and fixing it will wipe out all my savings.

The other leak involved the shower at home. It’s leaking through the floor and causing problems. This bathroom has caused nothing but problems since we moved in. We originally thought it was the shower having some kind of rotten seal. It turns out the leak is coming from the shower flow control itself. Normally it would cost a fortune to get a plumber in to sort it. However, the car saw to that so I'm learing DIY Plumbing fast.

The third leak is from my eyes. I don’t know how but my eyes are constantly watering. I know I’m using my old glasses for the last few months and I’m wondering if that’s causing the problem. There’s green gunk coming out of them every now and again which implies I’ve got an eye infection. But I’ve got no spare cash to go to the optician for a new pair (see the point about the car).

All this on top of the little sleep I’m getting due to the nightly feeds, the difficulties with the game and the usual tension between myself and LSW, and I haven’t even started with work yet.

On the positive side, we’re still ok financially. But it’s a close thing. LSW Maternity pay has run out and I’ve got to cover the bills for this month, with one last large payment for the car still outstanding. It wouldn’t be so bad if the maternity pay had run out next month instead. At least all the Christmas shopping is out of the way.

Bloody Hell. It never rains, It pours.

Little Miss had her final jabs yesterday. The next set (MMR) is over six months away. LSW was up till late last night watching a documentary about the vaccine, because there was an alleged link between that an Autism. The real problem was the Scientist who alleged the link had patented his own vaccine not long before the MMR came out. This has Reassured LSW about the whole issue.

LSW is now really enjoying her time with Little Miss. I haven’t seen LSW this happy in a long time, despite the 4 o’clock feeds and nappy changes. Admittedly, I feel out of the equation a bit because Little Miss / the House get all the attention. Hopefully we’ll be able to sort this out.

I’ve been working on the problems for Client Two all week. What was supposed to be a 1 day job, turned out to be a three day problem and I missed the deadline. Well, they did move the goalposts halfway through development. But as of now I Don’t Care. I’m just fixing some small problems for Client Four and then I’m off home.

Did a little game work last night, designing the game communication packet that will be used for one client to talk to another. It’s a lot easier than I thought. But now that that’s out of the way, I have to design the Challenge/ Challanged Screens.

To top it all, the car has developed a fuel leak. I’ll have to take it to the garage across the road for some work. Not happy about it, because it will be expensive.

Mind you I take back what I said about Half life 2. Fantastic Game once you get past the install and steam.

Half Life 2 – What a waste of time.

Now this game is supposed to be the best thing since sliced bread. But I can’t get my steam account off the ground. If I can’t get the account authorised in a couple of days I’ll take the thing back to the shop.

Little Miss is sleeping a lot better; as is LSW but as per usual something else has turned up. There’s been a smell in the bathroom and it look like the bath has a leak. It’s been going on for a month and things that shouldn’t get damp are. I’ve got mould under the bath and the bathroom carpet. It’s going to take ages to clean up.

I’ve started work on the CV. It’s going to take a while. I’ve just realised how much I’ve got to put into it. It will probably take a few days to pull it together. I’ve done a little work on the game last night but it’s hard to get motivated again.

That was the week that was.

Well I can knock the story on the head. I finished it Tuesday night and it’s going through the proof readers at the moment. Got one final half page to write as an epilogue but that’s another project completed. So with both the Fil’s Website out of the way and the Story now complete, this just leaves the game.

I’ve been also been attempting to write some poetry for Little Miss’ Christening / Dedication ceremony. What I have seems to work and LSW was moved to tears (or that could have been the hormones).

LSW seems to be feeling a lot better. She still gets tense and snappy, like I’m one to talk, but things feel a lot better than before. However, my blood pressure is through the roof when I come back in from work so I’m trying to exercise more, cut down on the caffeine and salt, as well as not caring about work so much.
