That was the day that was

Ever since the Jabs, Little Miss has been grumpy. She slept almost a full night the day she got them, but since then she wakes both LSW and I up every two hours. This has lead to a tired and grumpy LSW and so I’m now tired and grumpy. Fun time in our house.

I went to the doctors on Thursday and they concluded that my blood pressure was up and I was stressed out. They even said they could sign me off for a few days but what’s the point. The work will stack up while I’m away and I’ll get even worse thinking about it. I’ve got to go back in the next week to see if I’m OK.

The In-laws were up last weekend and help both of us out while we sorted out all the little jobs that were required all day. MiL is a nurse and took my blood pressure. It was sky high! I then received a five-minute lecture on how I should look after myself now that I have a young daughter. LSW had to lead her from the room, she was on such a righteous indignation. She apologised later, saying she had too much wine, but the lecture made me feel that I wanted to go out and eat ten big macs.

Work is weird, I can’t tell if people are coming or going. I’ve got this big project to sort out for Client Two’s South American Plant. I finished it last week, so I’m using the spare time to bring some of our other stuff for client four up to date.

I’ve recently found out that the development work I did for a group who would have been client number 7 has fallen through. Apparently our sales team completely misjudged the Bid, oh well, no more Job security from that one.

Now that Fil’s website is on line, I’m able to concentrate on my game. Or I would if I wasn’t so knackered when I get in. I’ve cut out my coffee, or rather moved onto decaf, and bloody hell I didn’t realise how much I relied on it.

Success. At Last !

Well, would you believe it. We have a FiL Web Site. It's quite crude at the moment, just a few html pages and an ASP.NET counter but hey it works and Fil is happy with it.

1 down, several million to go !

What the Hell is going on?

I’m actually getting scared. It appears that all my work is getting farmed out else where. Kackman has been given my last good chunk of work and he’s snowed under! Yankman is not happy with this and shouted down the phone at me. It’s not my fault, blame Scooter!

TMCM is taking all my other work and sending it to the Belgium office. I know I wanted to leave, but I wanted it to be on my terms after Christmas. Scooter claims that my workload is being cleared for new projects but I will admit to having trouble believing him.

Little Miss has finally settled into a routine, very loosely, but it’s a start. I’m not looking forward to Thursday because, not only am I going for a check up at the doctor’s but Little Miss gets her second load of injections. It’ll be a tough time for the next few days after that.

Fil’s Website is online but I’m having trouble with the ASP.NET sections of it. Works fine with my Development Website at home but not when I put it on the remote server. I’ve asked for assistance with it from the Website people. £1 a minute on the phone though! Ouch!

The game has hit a real stumbling block, so I’m wound up about that. I’m actually looking forward to the Doctor’s on Thrusday!

Well, that is one thing off the list.

I’ve put the first version of FIL’s website on the Net this morning. I’m now waiting for the changes and criticism that are inventible. I still couldn’t get the ASP.NET to work at the site, so I’ve stripped out the code and will come back to it tonight.

Work let me have a couple of hours off in lieu. So I spent that time upgrading the Website, that’s if Little Miss and LSW would let me.

I even managed to get on with some coding on the game. All I can say is that the Bluetooth code can be quite difficult to get your head around. I might be able to do some testing in the next few days.
There was a work meeting last night about management structure changes, which is going to shake up people. I don’t know if I’ll be around for it.

Oh Lord! Has it really been that long since an update? Well, how can I say this, I’ve been run off my feet. Little Miss is back to waking every two hours at night. LSW is close to breaking point and thus so am I.

The security system TMCM wanted putting in the system has caused me no end of headache. The Doctor and Scooter have both been taking the piss regardless and I’ve had to work extra to get the security system placed inside the other products before they’re built this week.

This has caused a watershed. I’ve started work on my CV. The problem is that there aren’t that many jobs out there where I’ll be better off. Still better get the CV prepared and look up the job boards.

Well so much for sorting out all the things I need to. The ftp site for the Fils’ domain is still not available. I forgot to make an appointment with the doctor, even though the pain is still there. I didn’t even have time to do any work on the game. Nor did I book the car into the garage.

Bugger

There goes the idea of a peaceful night. Although Little Miss is kicking this cold (at last) she still had trouble breathing last night. So both LSW and I are grumpy as hell today.

The whole Christening idea is falling apart. It just seems impossible for the Minister, My Bother and LSW’s Brother to be free at the same time. I think we’ll have to apologies to my brother and sort of make it up to him at a later point. That’s more stress on top of everything else!

Work want to see this security system back prototyped by the end of today and I don’t know if I can do it, when I’m doing work for client Five as well! The Website and the Game are beginning to get me down because I’ve made no real progress in the last week. Even though, we paid the £100 for the Domain name.

There’s now another problem. I got serious pain in my chest last night. I’ve been getting twinges every now and again for the last few months but nothing as bad as last night. I’ve always written it off as trapped wind or heartburn but in this case the pain was in a different place. I haven’t mentioned anything to LSW because she’s also got enough on her plate.

Time to call up the doctor’s I think.

Lordy Lord !

Did I get a shock! I set up the webspace for Fil and paid the £50 or so for the webspace, ASP.NET scripting etc. Then I realise I need a domain and off I go to register it. £100! OUCH! This was supposed to be a birthday present! I had no idea that it would cost so much! I’ll have to dig into the savings for that one.

It seems that it is the going rate. Everybody else covers their costs by adding popup adds and so on. Still would have like to be told how much it cost up front through! I’ve then got to go through the search engines and register the website once it’s up and running.

Little Miss slept through last night. It’s a first. I’ve actually had seven hours straight sleep. It’s screwed my body clock up no end. I don’t know whether I’m coming or going. LSW seems to be in a good mood. Most of the Household jobs were done by the in-laws when they came up, so she’s happy with the house at the moment.

However, the Conservatory is another matter. The Builders will not be able to fix the problem until November and even then we don’t know if the parts are going to be right or not. LSW has brought in the big guns, her mother. LSW is terrifying when it comes to complaining, makes Ann Robinson look like a domesticated puppy. And when they get hold of the managing director of the company in question, I fear for him I really do!

I spent a lot of time running around after both LSW and Little Miss last night. So apart from the near coronary I got from Website, no real progress has been made on the Website or the game. To tell the truth, I’m having a little bit of a ‘wobble’ about whether I’ll get this game done. The Bluetooth functionality is turning out to be alittle bit tougher than I thought!

I’ve just won £5 on the lottery as well! Whoop-de-do!
