Tired...
One of the developers called me at 04:55 last night. He’s had problems with his queries and he wants to know how to get it to perform better. It’s 5 to 5 FFS, I need to be home soon. I tell him to run statistics and email me the query to look at it tomorrow. The query in question is the complex, convoluted piece of kack I’ve seen and in order to get it to work properly, the schema will have to be over hauled.
Gave up and took LSW swimming. ½ a mile of almost drowning, one Chinese Take Out later and a tense conversation about finances later, we settled down in front of the telly. It took her about five minutes to fall asleep, so I covered her with a blanket and headed upstairs to code for the rest of the night.
Got a phone call from my father last night, my mother’s operation was successful and there have been no complications. Even so I found it difficult to concentrate on coding, so I gave up and played Homeworld until I was too tired to continue.
I’ve been looking to the future of the game and I’m wondering how to finance the promotion and the running costs. I’ve got only a few options; -
· Go to the Bank, demonstrate the program and see what they say about backing.
· Talk to Nokia or one of the other big phone companies and see what they say.
· Find a publisher, demonstrate and see what they offer.
This is the bit I’m scared about because I don’t want to put my family in financial trouble. I know Business is supposed to be a risk, but when you have a baby on the way and you’re up to your eyes in debt, then you want to play it safe.
We’ve got a hospital visit today at two. Blood pressure check apparently, but LSW wants me along. I’m in no way superstitious about the fact this is happening on the 13th !!!!
